Since 1989 the founder, Albert Perras, has been working with private landowners, government agencies and companies involved with the development of sand and gravel deposits. In early 1990 Albert was one of the first consultants in Alberta to provide environmental services to companies and government agencies. He acted as a liaison between the client and Alberta Environment in the preparation of permit applications and the design of mining and reclamation plans. He has gone on for years since providing the same services to private land owners.

Albert Perras and his teams have also had active pit operations in production since 1996. There are a lot of consultants around that can complete one or two aspects of the process very well, but there are very few who have experience in all aspects of the design and implementation of the entire process.

Project Experience

From 1999-2015, Albert Perras and his team sold 8,954,500 tonnes of sand and gravel to the following types of projects.

  • granular base course and asphalt aggregate to highway construction contractors
  • winter sand and surfacing gravels to highway maintenance contractors
  • road gravel to various municipal governments
  • road gravel to oilfield service contractors
  • filter sands, armour rock, gabion rock and rip rap to various irrigation and dam projects

In 2016 sales were just over 1,600,000 tonnes.

Perras Name Meaning: a topographic name for someone who lived in a stony place or near an obvious pile of stones, from a derivative of pierre ‘rock’, meaning ‘pile of stones’.
